friday night
went to a show friday night. we biked there, it was a rad ride. I had never biked to saint paul before. it was a really good time. we went to the turf club to see private dancer and the blind shake. it was an awesome show, the bands were good. I had some drinks and went out a few times to smoke. we had to go to cvs to get a lighter for the hoot. smoking weed. i didn't take any pictures at the show but started to when we left
vanessa and i left a little after 1 and went to wait for the bus, we were not to into the idea of biking home. we biked over to the bus stop and waited for about 20 minutes. I took some pictures and smoked and waited. there was this guy waiting there too, he was there before us and had been waiting a while. he asked me "how many pictures are you going to take of that bike?" and then laughed. he paced around for a while then started swearing and shit because the bus was late. i guess it's also only late when it goes the way the guy was going. when our bus came we had to put our bikes on the bus, this gave this guy a chance to freak out at the driver about his bus being late and him waiting 45 mins.

Picture Me With Your Bike, A New Project.
The other day Joey and I were talking about bikes(when are we not talking about bikes, though?) and how we see so many cool ones on the street. For awhile now, Joey has been leaving these cute little spoke cards on bikes:
Another thing we both do is take pictures of awesome bikes we pass, and we see a lot of them. Somehow, we came up with the idea of not just taking pictures of cool bikes, but taking pictures of ourselves WITH the bikes- hence, Picture Me With Your Bike. We were toying with the idea of leaving spoke cards with the blog address, so people could see us admiring their bikes. I think it would be fun. Here's the first set, with bonus Ramona:

In which I free a baby bird, or I Am A Good Person.
I constantly have to remind myself how I am basically a good person. I won't go into detail here but there are a lot of things I do that a good person would not. So once in a while I try to do a good deed. Such as saving a baby Oriole, which I did last week and which Joey documented with his ever-present camera.
I got home last Sunday and Joey had been home all day. He told me there was 'something' stuck in bucket in the next-door neighbor's carport. We thought it might be a bird or a bat, and we went to take a look. It was an Oriole fledgling. It had been struggling to get out, as you can see from this disturbing picture of its blood on the things that were in the bucket it was trapped in:
I wasn't willing to touch the bloody things and I thought the bird might try to peck me so I grabbed some rubber gloves:
And reached in and pulled out the baby:
It wasn't really that hurt. His leg had been caught between two dowels sitting in the bucket, but it wasn't broken. And he flapped his wings like crazy, so they weren't broken either- though he did have a little wound where his wing had rubbed against the things in the bucket. He started making a racket and his parents actually flew over to squawk at me. I put him in the yard and he hopped over to rest beside the fence while his parents watched(you can see one of them on the fence by my cruiser here:
It was cute, but also sad because the little guy couldn't really fly. I left him in the yard for a bit and when I came out a couple of hours later to check on him, he hopped his way along the fence, under the gate and down the alley to a spot under the neighbor's tree. I hope he's still around!

1985.
Here's a picture Joey and I like to call our 'CK' picture. It kind of reminds me of those Calvin Klein adverts from the 90's. You can tell we were already snob faces. I think I was three and Joey was four. Please take notice that my hair is basically the same now. I have better boobs, though. Joey's sideburns had not grown in yet. They're aces now.
